Hennepin Arts Pantages Theatre

The Pantages opened in 1916 as a vaudeville house. Designed by the Minneapolis firm of Kees and Colburn in the Beaux Arts style. The stained-glass false skylight in the center of the auditorium was revealed after layers of paint were removed. On November 7, 2002 the completely renovated Pantages re-opened.

What to Expect

Greeters will welcome the public at the front door at 10 AM. Hennepin Arts will have an information table. A hand out of fun facts about the building will be available to all who enter. The public is welcome to wander and view the Lobby, Auditorium, Balcony and Lower Level Display Area. Urban Sketchers will have about 30 artists on hand sitting throughout the building quietly sketching whatever is before them, making for an added activation of fun. Building Operations Director, Steve Olson will be available for story telling and questions. Our Doors Open greeter volunteers are also long time ushers who know all sorts of history and facts and are also available for questions. Restroom are available for patrons. We close at 3PM.

Urban Sketchers will be actively drawing throughout the building from 11AM-1PM.

Viewing is limited to the pre-set areas only.

Watch your step as the auditorium is sloped towards the stage.


Be Prepared

This venue closes at 3PM.

Enter and Exit through front door on Hennepin Avenue.

The building is ADA compliant for the areas open to the public. Balcony, Restrooms and Lower Level Display can be accessed by elevator.
