HOW TO SIGN UP:
This year we’ve moved to a new app-based platform to sign up for Doors Open volunteer shifts. It’s called “Civic Champs.”
Use your phone to download the Civic Champs app from the Apple Store or Google Play and create an account. Once you do, you’ll be able to find and sign up for all of the Doors Open volunteer experiences.
The app is fairly intuitive, but you can click on this link for a pdf with more detailed guidance if you have trouble with this new system. Or click on the video below for step-by-step instructions.

IN-PERSON TRAININGS:
All Doors Open volunteers must attend an in-person or virtual training before Doors Open Weekend.
The first training is on Saturday, April 11th at 10:30 AM at the Minneapolis Central Library.

VIRTUAL / PRE-RECORDED TRAINING:
If you’ve volunteered with Doors Open Minneapolis before, you can opt to do a virtual, pre-recorded training. Which we'll send out a couple weeks before the event.

Volunteers also get priority access to ticketed events. This year we’re organizing more ticketed events than ever before – some during Doors Open Minneapolis and some the week leading up to it, which are a part of City Stories.
The truth is, we’re still getting our ducks in a row to finalize these ticketed experiences, but we expect them to start rolling out in the next few days. When you sign up to volunteer, we’ll put your name on the list to get first access to the events.

Doors Open Minneapolis Volunteer Video
Doors Open Minneapolis Greeter Volunteer Information
Location: Volunteers are stationed at a venue of their choosing within the city of Minneapolis
Time Commitment: At least one 4-hour shift on either Saturday, May 9th or Sunday, May 10th, between the hours of 9:30 am and 5:30 pm
Purpose: As a volunteer, you will assist in executing Doors Open Minneapolis in 2026. Doors Open Minneapolis is a weekend-long event that gives the public a chance to explore the buildings that tell our city’s story. From theaters to business hubs, sacred spaces to private clubs, engineering wonders to historical gems, Doors Open Minneapolis will give visitors a free behind-the-scenes look at dozens of exciting venues. Your role as a Greeter Volunteer will make this event function smoothly and easily. And we guarantee you’ll have lots of fun!
Responsibilities:
Welcome Doors Open Minneapolis attendees to the venue and count them as they enter.
Encourage attendees to register for Doors Open Minneapolis. Attendees will register via a mobile QR code or weblink.
Distribute stickers to attendees.
Assist with flow of foot traffic.
Answer general questions about the event.
Attend one mandatory volunteer information session in April. Multiple sessions (in-person and virtual) will be scheduled for your convenience.
